About Us

My sewing journey began at my grandmother's house on a Singer Treadle Machine at the age of 10. The first item my grandmother taught me to sew was a pillow case. I was captivated immediately. I started making doll clothes and eventually designing myself little tops when I was around 13 years old. It was at this age that Mum bought herself a new sewing machine and started dressmaking professionally. This meant I could use her old machine whenever I wished. I had some very capable sewists to learn from.

That was many years ago. I now have 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and I love to sew for them. I'm also passionate about recycling and reusing as much as possible which has somehow worked it's way into my sewing. I try to up-cycle as much as I can; I re-use plastic buttons. I love to use vintage fabrics, beautiful vintage linen and woollen blankets. I guess it makes me feel a whole lot better about producing an item, when I can re-use and up-cycle something that may otherwise become landfill.

I understand that children grow so quickly and endeavour to keep my prices very reasonable. I really love what I do and take great pride in my work. If the garments are cared for correctly, there's no reason why they won't last 2, 3 or even more kids.
